A game with space
We are in Paris, in a unique apartment designed by Ludivine Billaud. It's hard to describe this unique interior in one word, because one space flows smoothly into another, escaping classic divisions. The past blends seamlessly with the present, and the soft light seeping through the windows and numerous skylights give the space a slightly mysterious character.
Ludivine started her adventure with design as a textile and graphic designer. After some time, she also discovered a passion for furniture design, and then interior design. The apartment has been divided into two parts: private and public.
The reinforced concrete structure has become an interesting background for an unusual project. The bathroom is located behind a curved wall, between the public and private zones. The wall, covered with relief tiles, has become an intriguing interior decoration, and the chiaroscuro projected on it adds to the mood.
In the corridors and the hall, the designer decided to use patterned tiles to create a visually stimulating background. Inside, there are a lot of skylights, openings, recesses, which not only give the space a new perspective, but also become an ideal place to display the sculptures belonging to the hosts.
Most of the furniture was made to order, their shapes were to complement the architectural divisions already present in the apartment. This can be seen, for example, in the kitchen divisions of the cabinets or in the huge sofa that fills the niche in the living room.
As the designer says, one of her greatest inspirations was residential architecture from the 60's and 70's. As Ludivine adds, these are interiors where space is carefully designed. In part, the apartment was supposed to give the impression of such a public space.
