Eclecticism in Berlin
This picturesque apartment is located in a Berlin tenement house from 1903. Antique windows, decorative door trims and historic accents have become the backdrop for a mix of modern and vintage furniture. The whole interior is very consistent, and carefully selected decorations in the colors of autumn add a unique character.
Behind the project is the New York studio of Keren and Thomas Richter - White Arrow. Berlin is the homeland of Thomas, and the project of interior in Europe was an interesting springboard for them. The pantry was turned into a bathroom, a huge marble washbasin had to be brought through the window.
The Richters thought over the layout of the apartment to hide the asymmetry and create a lot of discreet storage space. White, custom ribbed cabinets conceal kitchen appliances, and Oliver Furniture bunk bed maximize children's room space.
The interior features classic Italian and French designs from the middle of the century, such as Carlo Nason lamps, which, together with fabrics from Pierre Frey, reflect the European environment.
Keren and Thomas experimented with a range of new artisans and local techniques offered by the people of Berlin.
White Arrow's work celebrates the time spent searching, crafting, collaborating and people who work together to create inspiring interiors. The Richters come up with ingenious solutions with the greatest attention to detail, working on the reuse of old fabrics and the architectural rescue whenever possible.
