Family house in Ville Mont-Royal
Imagine, the Mélodie Violet design studio recently presented a design for a family house in Ville Mont-Royal. The property belongs to a couple who have been working with the designer for a long time, so they were given a lot of freedom in terms of decor.
In addition to the complete renovation of the interior, it was decided to expand the house by adding a modern part and enlarging the garage. The family previously lived in a noisy city center, and when they moved to a greener neighborhood, they began a new chapter in their lives. The owners wanted the interior to be not only functional, but also surprising with an unusual palette of colors and unusual solutions.
"The previous owner lived in the house for 30 years and made no major changes," says designer Mélodie Violet. "The project was essentially turning the past into the present and the future for my clients" she adds.
The new extension of the building has been designed to perfectly blend in with the original structure. The main bedroom is located on the upper level, and the dining room and part of the kitchen are located on the lower level.
The kitchen opens onto a large dining area with floor-to-ceiling windows. Terracotta-colored chairs surround a large family table and above it are two majestic clear-mesh lighting fixtures.
In the salon, a palette of subdued shades was chosen. The beige herringbone sofa was designed by Mélodie Violet with a pattern that echoes the floor. In the center of the dark brown walnut building there is a large TV and on the left a gas fireplace surrounded by black marble.
