The interior of the restaurant is a tribute to natural materials, especially wood, which gives the interior a rustic character. The name of the restaurant comes from the maple fruit. The interior is dominated by subdued colors reminiscent of local landscapes.

Restaurant owners wanted to create an atmospheric bistro with a cozy atmosphere. The heart of the place is certainly a wood-burning grill, which guests can enjoy from the restaurant room. The glowing grill brings to mind a fireplace, hence the idea of decorating the interior with dark, smoked wood.

Interestingly, the table tops were made of recycled wood from old platforms. Dark wood is combined with copper sheet, which gently glitters in a fairly dark interior.

Architects specifically decided on spot lighting, which creates a light dusk - thanks to this the atmosphere in the interior is very intimate. The interior of the bistro resembles still lifes created in the Netherlands in the 17th century.

"I liken the atmosphere to a Dutch still life painting. It’s rich and moody with an elemental simplicity" - said Saul Becker from Mutuus.

"The simple copper pot was an inspiration to us. It’s something utilitarian that only gets better with age and patina. We carried this theme throughout the restaurant with custom patinaed copper panels, custom patinaed copper pendants, handmade Danish bricks, a soapstone chef’s counter and bar, and richly stained wood…simple materials that will get better with age and use” - he adds.
