When Yatofu Creatives was tasked with completely redesigning the branding and interior of Teemaa Tea House, they used this as an opportunity to delve into the history of tea brewing. The aim of the project was to create a brand and a space that will allow people of all backgrounds to experience and learn about the tea culture.

Teahouse owners place great emphasis on the origin of their tea from ethical sources. They build close relationships with suppliers, and their products are selected to reflect their commitment to honesty, transparency and quality. By defining Teemaa's brand and interior concepts to reflect these values, Yatofu wanted to address both the rawness of tea as an ingredient and reflect its refinement and complexity.

They chose a palette of raw and authentic materials related to the tea brewing process, such as antiqued steel, bricks and wood. Another important point of the project was the use of craftsmanship, which emphasized the uniqueness of the entire tea brewing process.

 

Environmental responsibility was also a priority for architects and customers when designing the space, which led to many final decisions on materials and production. One of the main goals in the sourcing and production process was to eliminate excess scraps or leftover materials.

To achieve this goal, material quantities were meticulously calculated, excess bricks were recycled and metal fittings were oxidized after processing to avoid useless discarded clippings. In the retail part of the teahouse, large wooden columns serve as a support for the wall shelves.

While the overall atmosphere of the interior was designed to create a serene yet elegant temple, Yatofu Creatives wanted to put an element of fun and affordability into the brand's visual identity itself. Bright and sophisticated colors are used in combination with playful hand-drawn shapes on a neutral and minimalist black base.
