Garnier Residence
Garnier Residence is a minimalist home located in Montreal, Canada, designed by Dupont Blouin Architects. Inspired by the "modern" style of the mid-century, the residence is located in the fashionable Plateau Mont-Royal district of Montreal.
The house is intended for a family with small children. A very unusual layout was chosen: a large living room was placed on the top floor, so as to receive maximum light, and the bedrooms were placed below.
In the basement there is a separate space ideal for visiting family guests, it can also be rented. Customers wanted a cozy space that would help them relax after returning home from work.
In order to get away from everyday stresses and tensions, the architects decided on a rather unusual idea: the living space was treated like a bar. In the center there is a U-shaped kitchen furniture, which resembles a restaurant bar. Of course, there were also bar stools.
There is also a skylight above the kitchen, thanks to which the interior is filled with light during the day. There are as many as six entrances to the house, including the vestibules. The owners wanted to keep a separate entrance on each level and have a more official entrance for guests and private for themselves and their children, which created a kind of maze. In the living space, pay attention to the colorful terrazzo that sets the tone for the whole.
The bathroom and master bedroom have a Verde Saint-Denis marble countertop, emerald green washbasins and warm natural felt walls that also harmonize with terrazzo.
